The actuality of Paulo Freire in times of pandemic: weaking dialogues about the challenges of education and teaching

Resumo: In this article, at a time when we celebrate Paulo Freire’s centenary, we discuss the current moment crossed by profound crises. We problematize this context, especially with regard to the Brazilian educational scenario that experiences pressures for remote education in times of pandemic, looking in Freire’s legacy for clues to understand and seek answers to what we have lived and faced. We articulate Freire’s reference to the experiences lived by the Municipal Reference Center for Youth and Adult Education (Centro Municipal de Referência de Educação de Jovens e Adultos - CREJA), to the teaching work, tensioned by conservative projects, and the movement of lives understood in their potential for approximation and reflection in times of social distancing. We understand that revisiting Paulo Freire and having a dialog with his concepts is urgent and necessary, in the thickening for the densification of our actions and investigations in teacher education. Problematizamos este contexto, sobre todo en lo que se refiere al escenario educativo brasileño que vive presiones por una educación remota en tiempos de pandemia, buscando en el legado de Freire pistas para comprender y buscar respuestas a lo que hemos vivido y enfrentado. Articulamos lo referencial de Freire a las experiencias vividas por el Centro Municipal de Referencia de Educación de Jóvenes y Adultos (CREJA), al quehacer docente, tensionados por proyectos conservadores, y al movimiento de las lives entendidas en su potencial de aproximación y reflexión en tiempos de aislamiento. Entendemos que volver a visitar a Paulo Freire y dialogar con sus conceptos es urgente y necesario, en la profundización de nuestras acciones e investigaciones en la formación docente. Palabras clave: Paulo Freire. Pandemia. Educación.Neste artigo, em um momento que celebramos o centenário de Paulo Freire, discutimos o momento atual atravessado por profundas crises. Problematizamos esse contexto, sobretudo no que diz respeito ao cenário educacional brasileiro que vive pressões por uma educação remota em tempos de pandemia, procurando, no legado de Freire, pistas para compreender e buscar respostas ao que temos vivido e enfrentado. Articulamos o referencial de Freire às experiências vividas pelo Centro Municipal de Referência de Educação de Jovens e Adultos (CREJA), ao fazer docente, tensionados por projetos conservadores, e ao movimento das lives compreendidas em seu potencial de aproximação e de reflexão em tempos de distanciamento.  Compreendemos que revisitar Paulo Freire e dialogar com seus conceitos é urgente e necessário no adensamento de nossas ações e investigações na formação docente.
