Expansion of Distance Learning: Universidade Pitágoras Unopar under the logic of financialization

Resumo: This article aimed to analyze the expansion of distance Higher Education at “Universidade Pitágoras Unopar” under the logic of financialization. The methodology adopted starts from the bibliographic survey, with a qualitative approach and documental analysis.  The results show that “Universidade Pitágoras Unopar” has a large participation in Distance Learning in Brazil, representing approximately 12% among public and private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), 13.41% among private HEIs in the year 2020. It was identified that the predominance of enrollments in the Distance Learning modality influenced Kroton/Cogna to create, in 2019 and 2020, eight colleges with the Unopar brand, in addition to creating marketing with digital platforms, with the objective of strengthening the Distance Learning market, showing that Higher Education via distance learning is expanding in a commodified way in the logic of the financialization of capital. La metodología adoptada parte del levantamiento bibliográfico, con enfoque cualitativo y análisis documental. Los resultados muestran que la “Universidade Pitágoras Unopar” tiene una gran participación en la Educación a Distancia (EaD) en Brasil, representando, aproximadamente, el 12% entre las Instituciones de Enseñanza Superior (IES) públicas y privadas, el 13,41% entre las IES privadas en 2020. Se identificó que el predominio de las inscripciones en la modalidad de EaD influyó en Kroton/ Cogna a crear, en 2019 y 2020, ocho facultades con la marca Unopar, además de crear marketing con plataformas digitales, con el objetivo de fortalecer el mercado de la EaD, destacando que la Educación Superior via EaD se está expandiendo de forma mercantilizada en la lógica de la financiarización del capital. Identificou-se que a predominância de matrículas na modalidade EaD influenciou a Kroton/Cogna a criar, nos anos de 2019 e 2020, oito faculdades com a marca Unopar, além de criar marketing com plataformas digitais, com o objetivo de fortalecer o mercado EaD, evidenciando que a Educação Superior via EaD está se expandindo de forma mercantilizada na lógica da financeirização do capital.
