Education policy research in Brazil (2000-2010): an analysis of theses and dissertations

Resumo: This paper aims to present an analysis of the production of the Brazilian postgraduate programs in the educational policy area. Therefore, information from 1,305 theses and dissertations found at CAPES database produced in the 2000-2010 period was collected. From this survey and having as reference similar researches, it was observed that the theme “State, its actions and policies” is still the most researched one, keeping past trends. It was observed that the production of postgraduate education is concentrated in the Southeast region, followed by the Southern region, the Midwest, and Northeast and North. Finally, two trends were identified in the area: a few programs and mentors concentrate large numbers of works and several research lines divide the remaining of the production, not being identified as references to the area.   Keywords: Educational policies. Academic production. Postgraduate studies.El objetivo de este trabajo es presentar un análisis sobre la producción de los programas de posgrado de Brasil en el área de la política educativa. Para esto, se construyó una base de datos con 1.305 tesis de doctorado y disertaciones de maestría tomadas desde el sitio web de CAPES producidas en el período 2000-2010. A partir del relevamiento y teniendo en cuenta como referencia investigaciones similares, se observó que el tema "Estado, sus acciones y políticas" es el eje más estudiado en el campo, manteniendo las tendencias del pasado. También se verificó que la producción de conocimiento del campo en posgraduación en educación se concentra en la región sureste, seguida de la región sur, luego del centro-oeste, nordeste y norte. Por último, se identificaron dos tendencias: pocos programas y directores de tesis y disertaciones concentran la mayor cantidad de orientaciones y varias líneas de investigación se dividen en el resto de la producción académica, aunque no se identifican como referencias para el campo.   Palabras clave: Políticas educativas. Producción académica. Posgraduación. Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar uma análise sobre a produção da Pós-Graduação brasileira na área de políticas educacionais. Para tanto, foram coletadas informações de 1.305 teses e dissertações no Banco de Teses da CAPES produzidas no período 2000-2010. A partir do levantamento e tendo como referência pesquisas similares, observou-se que o tema “Estado, suas ações e políticas” ainda é o eixo mais pesquisado, mantendo tendências anteriores. Verificou-se que a produção da Pós-Graduação em Educação concentra-se na região sudeste, seguida da região sul, do centro-oeste, do nordeste e do norte. Por fim, foram identificadas duas tendências na área: poucos programas e orientadores concentram elevado número de trabalhos e várias linhas de pesquisa dividem o restante da produção, não sendo identificadas como referências para a área.   Palavras-chave: Políticas educacionais.
