Resumo: | This article describes the Social Representations (SR) that parents of children and adolescents have of the role of family, school and social after school care and of moral development. The study was developed in social after school care institutions in a city in the State of Paraná which attend 250 at-risk children and adolescents. Data was collected in interviews carried out with the parents or other adults in charge of these children and adolescents (N=60). The description of most common SR was based on the analysis of information, images and attitudes supplied by the interviewees. The research revealed that the school is seen as something useful in the future for work purposes; the after school care is seen as an extension of the home care and ancillary of the domestic moral education; and the domestic educational process is seen as correction of errors and moral deviations. El estudio se desarrolló en institución de contraturno social de una ciudad de Paraná que atiende 250 niños y adolescentes en situación de riesgo. Los datos fueron recogidos en las entrevistas con los padres o con otros responsables por estos niños y adolescentes (N=60). La descripción de las RS corrientes se basa en el análisis de las informaciones, imágenes y actitudes fornecidas por los encuestados. La investigación muestra que la escuela es mirada como un futuro beneficio para el trabajo; el contraturno es considerado como extensión del hogar y coadyuvante en la educación moral doméstica; y el proceso educativo doméstico es comprehendido como corrección de los errores y desviaciones morales. Os dados foram coletados em entrevistas realizadas com os pais ou com outros responsáveis por essas crianças e adolescentes (N=60). A descrição das RS circulantes fundamenta-se na análise das informações, imagens e atitudes fornecidas pelos entrevistados. A pesquisa revela que a escola é vista como utilidade futura para o trabalho; o contraturno é tido como extensão de casa e coadjuvante na educação moral doméstica; e o processo educacional doméstico é compreendido como correção dos erros e desvios morais.
