The ethical and religious issue in the order of the Freirean speech

Resumo: In this paper, of a bibliographic nature, the way Paulo Freire used “ethics” as the founding principle of his reflections, problematizations and arguments on the insertion of religious social work in the heart of Latin American social relations is analyzed. The following works were examined under the lens of the Archaeological Discourse Analysis, based on Foucault (2000): Cultural action for freedom, 1981 Brazilian edition; Education: the practice of freedom, 1967 Brazilian edition; Pedagogy of the oppressed, 1987 Brazilian edition; Extension or communication?, 1983 Brazilian edition; and Os cristãos e a libertação dos oprimidos, 1978 edition. It is highlighted that Paulo Freire’s understanding of ethical and religious issues does not only hold a specific way of being, as ethics works as a parameter for critical analysis of different social and historical manifestations on the religious issue and its relationship with the people. It is concluded that the meaning of the notion and the use of the signifier “ethics” as a principle of criticality is recurrent in the argument, in the positioning and in the Freirean discursive order. Religion.En este artículo, de carácter bibliográfico, se analiza el modo cómo Paulo Freire empleaba la “ética’ como principio fundamental de sus reflexiones, problematizaciones y argumentaciones sobre la inserción del trabajo social religioso en el seno de las relaciones sociales latinoamericanas. Se examinaron las siguientes obras, bajo la óptica de Análisis Arqueológico del Discurso con base en Foucault (2000): Acción cultural por la libertad y otros escritos, edición brasileña de 1981;  La educación como práctica de la libertad, edición brasileña de 1967;  Pedagogía del oprimido, edición brasileña de 1987;  ¿Extensión o comunicación ?, edición brasileña de 1983; Os cristãos e a libertação dos oprimidos (Los cristianos y la liberación de los oprimidos), edición brasileña de 1978. Se evidencia que el entendimiento de Paulo Freire sobre las cuestiones éticas y religiosas no guardan sólo un modo específico de ser, pues la ética funciona como un parámetro de análisis crítico de diferentes manifestaciones sociales e históricas sobre la cuestión religiosa y su relación con el pueblo. Se concluye que el significado de la noción y del uso del significante “ética” como un principio de criticidad, es recurrente en la argumentación, en el posicionamiento y en el orden discursivo de Freire. Palabras clave: Paulo Freire. Ética. Religión.Neste artigo, de natureza bibliográfica, analisa-se o modo como Paulo Freire empregava a “ética” como princípio fundante de suas reflexões, problematizações e argumentações sobre a inserção do trabalho social religioso no seio das relações sociais latino-americanas. Foram examinadas as seguintes obras sob as lentes da Análise Arqueológica do Discurso, com base em Foucault (2000): Ação cultural para a liberdade e outros escritos, edição de 1981; Educação como prática da liberdade, edição de 1967; Pedagogia do oprimido, edição de 1987; Extensão ou comunicação?, edição de 1983; e Os cristãos e a libertação dos oprimidos, edição de 1978. Evidencia-se que o entendimento de Paulo Freire sobre as questões éticas e religiosas não guardam somente um modo específico de ser, pois a ética funciona como um parâmetro de análise crítica de diferentes manifestações sociais e históricas sobre a questão religiosa e sua relação com o povo. Conclui-se que o significado da noção e do uso do significante “ética” como um princípio de criticidade é recorrente na argumentação, no posicionamento e na ordem discursiva freireana.
