Resumo: | Laurel (Laurus nobilis L.) is native to the Mediterranean and widely used in the worldwide since antiquity, due to itsmedicinal, nutritional and unique beauty properties. In Brazil, laurel is generally grown in small orchards, mainly for culinary use, but also for obtaining essential oil, as a way to add value to the product. In the countryside, the crop suffers from extractive harvest and poor management, without the adoption of good agricultural practices, favoring the occurrence of pathologies in the orchards. In view of the scarcity of publications on the subject, the objective of this study was to report the occurrence of diseases and pests in the laurel.Based on the symptoms the material was collected and analyzed.Pathogens were isolated by the direct method and identified usingtraditional microscopy techniques and identification keys. Fungi were the most common phytopathogens causing diseases in the laurel. In addition, some plants exhibited injuries by pest attack, which can cause damage and are also potential transmitters or facilitators of pathogens entering the plant. |
