Resumo: DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.12957/tecap.2011.10385Este artículo presenta un análisis comparativo entre los inicios de los carnavales de las sociedades coloniales de América Luso-Hispánica y su posterior transformación entre fines del siglo XIX y XX, en expresiones sumamente distintas unas de otras, que sin embargo tienen la fuerza de convertirse en parte fundamental de la identidad de cada región y de su imaginario social. Se analiza en este estudio la diversificación de los Carnavales de Sucre, Potosí, Oruro y La Paz.
