Resumo: | This study analyses the implications of cooperation in Brazilian foreign policy in the light of the technical cooperation Brazil-Japan focusing on the Lula government mandates (2003-2010). The current direction of Brazilian technical cooperation in its foreign policy is debated, as is the place of Brazilian-Japanese relations in this context, considering the strength of South-South cooperation in Brazil's foreign policy. The article goes on to present the history of cooperation between Brazil and Japan, discuss the points that mark today’s technical cooperation, including phenomena like triangulation, and present current examples of this kind of cooperation. The significance of technical cooperation between Brazil and Japan to Brazil's foreign policy is thus demonstrated, while also indicating some key features of Japan's foreign policy. Keywords: Technical cooperation, Brazil-Japan, Brazilian foreign policy.Received on May 23, 2013 / Accepted on June 03, 2013 |

Assim, tenta-se mostrar qual a relevância da cooperação técnica entre Brasil e Japão para a política externa brasileira, sem deixar de lado breves apontamentos sobre a política externa japonesa.ABSTRACTThis study analyses the implications of cooperation in Brazilian foreign policy in the light of the technical cooperation Brazil-Japan focusing on the Lula government mandates (2003-2010).
