Resumo: This article aims to understand the urban-regional space from the action of agents who coordinate the real estate production of Latin American metropolises. The procedural orientation followed the methodology of the bibliographic research and data surveys, having as reference the main Latin American journals of urban and regional studies. The four metropolises considered the most global in Latin America were investigated based on the criterion of the presence of “Oficinas Premium”, in order to understand how it happened and what the consequences of the formation of the global space were. After a brief definition of some terms, the scenarios that made Mexico City, São Paulo, Santiago and Buenos Aires the main global cities in Latin America are presented. The article ends with notes related to the restructuring of urban centers, the horizontal expansion of the city, population dynamics, and the action of the public authorities and the worsening of inequalities as a result of this globalization process.

A orientação procedimental seguiu a metodologia da pesquisa bibliográfica e levantamentos de dados, tendo por referência as principais revistas latino-americanas de estudos urbanos e regionais. Foram investigadas as quatro metrópoles consideradas as mais globais da América Latina a partir do critério da presença de “Oficinas Premium”, no intuito de entender como ocorreu e quais as consequências da formação do espaço global. Após breve definição de alguns termos, são apresentados os cenários que tornaram Cidade do México, São Paulo, Santiago e Buenos Aires as principais cidades globais da América Latina. O artigo finaliza com apontamentos relativos à reestruturação dos centros urbanos, à expansão horizontal da cidade, à dinâmica populacional, à ação do poder público e ao acirramento das desigualdades em consequência deste processo de globalização. Este artículo tiene como objetivo comprender el espacio urbano-regional a partir de la acción de los agentes que coordinan la producción inmobiliaria de las metrópolis latino-americanas. La orientación procedimental siguió la metodología de investigación bibliográfica y levantamiento de datos, teniendo como referencia las principales revistas latinoamericanas de estudios urbanos y regionales. Las cuatro metrópolis consideradas las más globales de América Latina fueron investigadas con base en el criterio de la presencia de "Oficinas Premium", para comprender cómo sucedió y cuáles fueron las consecuencias de la formación del espacio global. Luego de una breve definición de algunos términos, se presentan los escenarios que hicieron de la Ciudad de México, São Paulo, Santiago y Buenos Aires las principales ciudades globales de América Latina.
