Resumo: DOI: 10.1590/2179-8966/2019/40249 ResumoEste artigo examina as mais relevantes teorias desenvolvidas durante a Reforma Protestante no que diz respeito ao que futuramente passou a ser conhecido como direito de resistência. Focando nos escritos de Martinho Lutero e João Calvino, a nossa preocupação em investigar como a teorização protestante da separação entre fé e governo civil contribuíram com a conceituação do direito de resistência, categoria que terá grande relevância nos séculos seguintes.Palavras-chave: História do Direito; Teoria política; Reforma protestante; Direito de resistência.AbstractThis article examines the most relevant theories during the Protestant Reformation on what is now known as civil disobedience. Focusing on the writings of Martin Luther and John Calvin, we are concerned about investigating how protestant theorization on the separation of faith and civil governance contributed to the conception of civil disobedience, that will have a strong relevance later on.Keywords: Legal History; Political theory; Protestant reformation Civil disobedience.
