DOI: 10.12957/rqi.2017.30810O artigo em questão parte da ideia de que o mundo contemporâneo vive uma situação dramática e de solução complexa e que um conceito de justiça, em tal realidade, não passa, apenas, por redistribuição. É preciso ir além, tutelando também o reconhecimento das pessoas humanas como tal nas sociedades em que vivem. Ele procura examinar a justiça social e sua demanda de dois tipos: por redistribuição e por reconhecimento, a partir das obras de Axel Honneth e Nancy Fraser. Esclarece o que seria uma concepção bivalente de justiça, que levasse em conta essas duas vertentes, exemplificando com a discussão a respeito das diferenças de ‘gênero’ de ‘raça’ e de ‘classe’. Trabalha a ideia de justiça como participação paritária e da percepção pragmática do reconhecimento das diferenças e define o Estado do bem-estar como um nexo de distribuição e reconhecimento. Conclui o texto dizendo que a rica análise realizada por Nancy Fraser revela, com boa argumentação, que os problemas de justiça que afligem a sociedade como um todo, hoje, não podem ser analisados separadamente, atribuindo à distribuição e ao reconhecimento, pois, uma função conjunta na ideia de justiça, que seja capaz de suprir as deficiências de cada qual naquilo que for preciso.Palavras-chave: Redistribuição; reconhecimento; Nancy Fraser; medidas transformativas; ações afirmativas.AbstractThe article in question starts from the idea that the contemporary world lives a dramatic situation of complex solution and that a concept of justice, in such reality, does not only pass through redistribution. It is necessary to go beyond, also protecting the recognition of human beings as such in the societies in which they live. It seeks to examine social justice and its demand of two types: by redistribution and recognition, from the works of Axel Honneth and Nancy Fraser. It clarifies what would be a bivalent conception of justice, taking these two aspects into account, exemplifying the discussion of the differences of ‘race’ and 'gender'. It works on the idea of justice as parity participation and the pragmatic perception of the recognition of differences and defines the welfare state as a nexus of distribution and recognition. The text concludes by saying that Nancy Fraser's rich analysis reveals with good argument that the problems of justice that afflict society as a whole cannot be analyzed separately, thus assigning to the distribution and recognition a function together with the idea of justice, which is capable of addressing each person's shortcomings in what is needed.Keywords: Social justice, redistribution, recognition, dignity of the human person.
