Resumo: This paper examines the poem “A cabeça de corvo” [“Raven’s head”], by Alphonsus de Guimaraens, from his book Kyriale (1902), the last one published before the poet’s death, although it presents his first poems written, from 1891 to 1895. The aim of this article is to explore two issues that specially matter to the contemporary world –– the split of the subject and the impurity of art –– through the analysis of the doubles which represent the poet in Guimaraens’ verses: the inkpot (“tinteiro”), the raven (“corvo”) and the inkpotraven (“tinteiro-corvo”).
