Resumo: In this study it was questioned the hybrid dimension of the printout, especially of Vida Infantil magazine, object and source of this research. The magazine circulated in Brazil from 1947 to 1960 and it was edited by Sociedade Gráfica Vida Doméstica Ltda. From 1947 to June 1951, the magazine editions were monthly; from July 1951, fortnightly, which justifies the period chosen for this research: from 1947 to 1950. The publisher s headquarters was located in the Federal District and it was equally responsible for the edition of the magazines Vida Doméstica (1920 1963) and Vida Juvenil (1949 1959). The central hypothesis of this study is that this publication would follow a hybrid perspective. Thus, the general objective is to comprehend the magazine Vida Infantil and its composition: to amuse, to educate and to instruct. For that matter, the specific objectives are circumscribed: 1) Comprehend the discourses related to amusement, education and instruction of its readers; 2) Analyze the magazine editions from 1947 to 1950, focusing on the three potential elements present on the publications: to amuse, to educate and to instruct; 3) Comprehend, on one hand, the methods to amuse the small readers through the HQs and, on the other, understand manners of teaching the History of Brazil for children throughout the column História do Brasil para Crianças. The relevance of Vida Infantil to the research in History of Education may be justified by its dual role of spreading discourses and practices seeking amusement, education and instruction of the small readers, which matches the historical and cultural reflexions, for which the periodical press is considered to be a cultural latent evidence. In relation to the methodology used in this research, it is highlighted the documental investigation made in the Periodic Section and General Works of the Fundação Biblioteca Nacional (FBN), located in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Thus, the methodological exercise of the research was based on the critical analysis of the documental sources and on the literature review related to the theme: History of Education and of the Press

De 1947 a junho de 1951, ela circulou com uma periodicidade mensal; já a partir de julho de 1951 passou a ser quinzenal, fato que justifica o recorte da pesquisa: de 1947 a 1950. A editora tinha sede no Distrito Federal e era igualmente responsável pela edição das revistas Vida Doméstica (1920 1963) e Vida Juvenil (1949 1959). A hipótese central do estudo é a de que essa publicação seguia uma perspectiva híbrida. Assim, o objetivo geral é o de compreender Vida Infantil em sua composição: a de divertir, educar e instruir. Nesse sentido, circunscrevem-se os objetivos específicos: 1) Compreender discursos voltados para a diversão, a educação e a instrução de seu público; 2) Analisar as edições da revista, de 1947 a 1950, com especial enfoque nos três elementos potentes das publicações: divertir, educar e instruir; e 3) Compreender, de um lado, modos de se divertir os pequenos leitores por meio de Histórias em Quadrinhos e, de outro lado, entender modos de se ensinar a História do Brasil às crianças por meio da coluna História do Brasil para Crianças. A pertinência de Vida Infantil para a pesquisa em História da Educação pode ser justificada por seu duplo papel difusor de discursos e práticas com vistas à diversão, educação e instrução das crianças leitoras, o que vai ao encontro das reflexões históricas e culturais que consideram a imprensa periódica um testemunho cultural potente. No que concerne à metodologia empregada para a realização desta pesquisa, ressalta-se a investigação documental feita na Seção de Periódicos da Fundação Biblioteca Nacional (FBN), localizada na cidade do Rio de Janeiro.
