This dissertation intends to reflect on the existence of a specific contribution of evangelicals to the current socio-political scenario in Latin America, and especially in Brazil. This scenario aggregates the unfolding processes of democratic erosion and the emergence of evangelical protagonism in the political sphere. The central objective is to analyze the contours of the new Protestant public performance. More specifically, the research also aims at highlighting the participation of evangelical leaderships in the Brazilian Executive Branch, in first level positions, evidencing the expansion of a presence consolidated before in the Legislative Branch. It also intends to highlight the elements and relationships that point to the complexification of a political-religious network, which aggregates parachurch entities and public agencies. The hypothesis is that the articulation of this network is related to processes, not yet entirely clear, of evangelical "expansion of domains" in the public sphere; processes that do not seem to configure a theocratic threat, but that may be contributing significantly to the movements of the New Right.
