Resumo: This qualitative research was inspired by Laís Bodansky's film Chega de saudade (2008) and was composed of two studies, both guided by the same conducting threads: aging, old age and ballroom dancing. The first study was characterized as an essay and had as main objective to think thematic in and from the film of Bodansky. For that we have highlighted scenes and dialogues that allowed us to reflect on such issues, since the film narrates a plot set during a dance for "old age." We conclude that ballroom dancing is the protagonist of the film and that aging is its central theme. Bodansky brings to the canvas a variety of musical genres and dances, as well as details and typical situations of ballroom dancing. Old age is assumed, keeping in motion and seeking pleasure without, however, denying its (im) possibilities and ambiguities. The second study was characterized as a field research and was carried out in the context of an elderly cohabitation center. The sample consisted of eight elderly women who attended the dance classes of the institution studied. Semi-structured interviews and classroom observations were carried out in order to give these elderly women a voice and understand what they want and think about the practice of ballroom dancing and old age. After the field research and the transcription of the data, their synthesis and analysis were done In order to improve such interpretations, we complement the initial interpretations with the field diary records and the pertinent theories developed by scholars of the subject. The research evidenced the importance that the elderly women attribute to the ballroom dance, revealing gains derived from their practice, both in the physical, as well as in the psychic and social spheres. One of the points that stood out was their complaints about their male colleagues who, according to them, are, in addition to a few, extremely selective in their choice of dance partners and the other point was the enormous pleasure they feel when dancing, as well as satisfaction with the current phase of their lives. It was possible to perceive that, from the feeling of solitude and freedom experienced in this phase of life, these elderly women, through the practice of ballroom dancing, reinvented themselves. In short, in the classroom dance classes, much more than any technical teaching, these women are interested in the company, the welcome, the joy, the possibility of distancing themselves from their problems and the experience of pleasure and freedom, only possible to be experienced now

It was possible to perceive that, from the feeling of solitude and freedom experienced in this phase of life, these elderly women, through the practice of ballroom dancing, reinvented themselves. In short, in the classroom dance classes, much more than any technical teaching, these women are interested in the company, the welcome, the joy, the possibility of distancing themselves from their problems and the experience of pleasure and freedom, only possible to be experienced nowEsta pesquisa, de natureza qualitativa, foi inspirada na fruição do filme Chega de saudade (2008), de Laís Bodansky e foi composta por dois estudos, ambos norteados pelos mesmos fios condutores: o envelhecimento, a velhice e a dança de salão. No. of bitstreams: 1 Lucia Aparecida Martins Campos Coelho_Tese.pdf: 2113095 bytes, checksum: 08d6e8ea7feb6cc2b785d2546ce4cb0f (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-01-05T18:42:24Z (GMT).
