The social worker work in the industry of the building site in the municipal district of Rio de Janeiro, before the consequences of the transformations of the capital, starting from 1990, contribute for the reflection on the new challenges imposed to the social workers professional exercise, the dilemmas, the tendencies and the perspectives captured in that professional's work in that area, in great cities in Brazil, second a leaning reading in Marx's theoretical-methodological perspective. In the analyzes the global crisis of the capital, detaching the changes in the work, in the State and in the public and managerial social politics, that takes more and more to the intensification of the subcontracted work and the precarização accentuated of the conditions of the manpower, particularly the one of that industrial branch, historically pauperizada and explored at the Country. The new and old forms of administration of the work are focalized, with prominence to the programs of total quality, of social responsibility and of work with communities white of public works. On a side, the changes result in losses of the positions and of traditional programs of work, with precarização of the contracts. On another side, the demands and perspectives of the social workers work are enlarged in that field, in face of the formation and professional abilities before the new demands of the quality patterns and of the attendance to the communities in which public works are executed, as " favela-bairro ".It is concluded about the possibilities in the occupation of the new partner-educational spaces, in them inserting the traditional politics of attendance, in the conception of social right, conjugating, like this, the objective treatment of the social needs with the relative to the workers' subjectivity and the communities' social control, as political subjects. In that direction, the approach is indicated between the professionals and the academy, as middle to make possible the current project ethical-political hegemônico of the social workers category in that field.
