O consumo de bebidas alcoólicas: um fator de risco para além do alcoolismo

This thesis examines the phenomenon of alcohol consumption, since when this abuse has become a health issue - the point of being recognized as a disease (the alcoholism) - until today the consumers, influenced by advertising or by an option of "lifestyle", may be end up at a risk of contracting, together with alcoholism, other types of diseases (eg Cardiovascular) or may suffering injuries (eg traffic accidents) due to act of drinking, even if socially. In practice, this situation ends up reflecting in the public health system in which the SUS, together with health plans operators and social organizations working in health care, can not provide a decent service to people with arising problems from the alcohol use. Added to this the ineffectiveness of "Public Policy" aimed at this type of problems on which we weave some comments namely: "Policy for Integral Attention to Users of Alcohol and Other Drugs," "National Policy for the Promotion of Health" and "National Policy on Alcohol". Thus, according to the general objective of this thesis, we analyze the latest study on the burden of disease (Global Burden of Disease - GBD) in order to show this association between illness and injury and the use of alcohol as a risk factor, both globally and Brazil. In addition this analysis deaths resulting from alcohol consumption were analyzed in Brazil, as well as cases of this disease registered in the Family Health Program - PSF.
