A construção da imagem discursiva do homossexual nos pronunciamentos de deputados na Câmara Federal

The 2014 elections outcome, the latest for the Federal Parliament before the end of this dissertation, unveiled a worrying fact: This seems to be the most conservative Congress since 1985, according to DIAP (Inter-Union Department of Parliamentary Advisory). Moreover, considering the Brazilian Parliament s slowness when it comes to the passing of any bills aimed at protecting the civil rights of the Brazilian LGBT people (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender), as well as the promptness by deputies of the so-called religious caucus, also known as the fundamentalist caucus, in speaking against both this population segment and any attempts to guarantee their rights, it seems relevant to identify the discourse markers that rise from those deputies speeches as they seem to produce arbitrary images related to LGBT people, being homosexuals the most recurrent identitary group mentioned in their enunciations. The discourse markers that spring up from the two speeches analyzed here, being one of them for and the other one against the LGBT rights, have provided us with an interesting panorama of how the image of this social group is discursively constructed by Congresspeople as they argue, either for or against gay rights, more precisely the right to marriage equality, throughout the discursive interactions held from the tribune of the Federal Deputies Chamber. The analysis is based, principally, on the theoretical framework of the Discourse Analysis, having as its support texts written by Dominique Maingueneau and Mikhail Bakhtin.
