The object this thesis is the ethical and political basis of collective organization of teachers for their health. The aim is to analyze how brasilian public school teachers included the issue of health in your trade union agenda. The guiding question is: as the health of teachers was included in the trade union agenda as enough health to work or extends to the plan of rights. Delimited itself as the National Confederation of Education Workers (CNTE) by this labor union be representative of more than two million workers of public education system in the country. The results enabled historically reconstruct the object in order to identify how when and by what means the labor union began questioning the health issue teacher illness as a collective issue and to identify the role that CNTE has been assimilating for themselves. It was found that health conceptions are present through the classification of issues in health in economic moment and ethical-political moment. This way, the ethical-political moment they are present when defend the SUS and health policies. However, the results also showed that context of the educational workers claims to an economic moment predominantly based on claims for health care, through administration of public institutions or health plans. In the latter sense, it does not extend the union debate aimed at protecting health as a social right, but considers it necessary. The hypothesis put forward is that the ethical-political moment, which incorporates the struggle for social rights, has immediate relations with the ontological dimension of the social being. Considered that the work is foundational for all determinations social health, and ethical-political issues, it is necessary to discuss health policies and de health rights. Thist is essencial for workers building an agenda against the understanding of health as a commodity
