Pensamento sobre educação básica e superior em Darcy Ribeiro: origens, propostas e caminhos políticos

This thesis deals, from a documentary and bibliographical investigation, with the thinking of Brazilian professor, politician and intellectual Darcy Ribeiro. With a life dedicated to Brazilian education, he constituted, in addition to his anthropological work and in literature, two formidable experiences in the country's education field, which constitute a politicaleducational legacy to Brazilian society: the University of Brasilia - UnB and the proposition and implantation of Integrated Public Education Centers (CIEPs) in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The first because it is made explicit in the proposal of a university necessary for the young Latin American nation, which, within a political moment of interiorization, discovered itself and which could constitute its autonomous development project, being that the university would be a fundamental institution. The second experience showed that it was possible to establish an honest and decent school for the country's impoverished social classes, aiming at social change based on education and treating education in a vision of integrality and multidimensionality. The thesis demonstrates the increasing involvement of the thinker Darcy Ribeiro with the cause of Brazilian education during his career. The study also seeks to show that Darcy treats education as a political cause, and for that he moves politically, always in a confluence between intellectuals and politicians, but lastly becoming political with suffrage, believing in democracy and with clear social and educational options. Finally, the thesis states that his thinking constitutes, still today, an inspiring source for public policies in Basic and Higher Education, in particular, as it was sought to demonstrate, with Reuni.
