Formas de sociabilidade de migrantes nordestinos na cidade do Rio de Janeiro

This paper aims to analyze some aspects related to the sociability of three northeastern migrant workers of popular classes in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Here I will discuss the following issues: the analysis of the organization and the structuring of support networks and mutual help that migrants keep among each other in the present city of destination; the particular way they deal and combat stigma; and the identification of some perceptions that my interlocutors had, through their speeches, about "Northeast" and "cariocas". The adverse conditions at work that caused the migration of many workers in Brazil's Northeast to the larger southeastern urban centers in order to find services and escape from the lack of prospects, decreased in intensity from the 1980s and 1990s, but still occur today (CUNHA, 2007). The mutual aid network is reciprocal and supportive between people who are part of the same family, the same neighborhood community or from the same homeland, experiencing a pattern of sociability that is opposed to the more commonly experienced by the average natural population of a metropolis where they live, getting enticed to a network of restricted relationships that often inhibit the gain of new features and benefits from more diversified contacts. The migrant combat between them the discrimination due to the stigma by spreading stereotypes that extol the attributes of his people and deteriorate the local people. I applied the methodology of participant observation, and I had the opportunity to live with the three-interviewed interlocutors of this research during three months of 2014, combined with semi-structured interviews.
