Resumo: | This research opens up a dialogue with the Internet & Politics field, specifically within the debate on cyberactivism in Brazil, with an aim to contribute to the historicization of cyberactivism as a contentious field. The thesis takes on some of the gaps in the literature, such as the understanding of cyberactivism as a relatively autonomous contentious field, the mobilization of an analytical framework based on the social movement theories and a diachronic analysis of its development taking into account different subfields. The first two chapters seek to provide a theoretical-methodological framework for the analysis and the last three ones reconstitute the development of the cyberactivist field in Brazil in its three periods. In this sense, the first chapter takes the theory of collective subjectivities as a general theory and the theory of strategic action fields as a middle-range theory and elaborates, in dialogue with the different strands of social movement theories, the analytical categories of actors, practices and grammars in interaction. The second chapter focuses on cyberactivism as a theoretical and empirical object in order to propose a digital sociology that uses web archives for social networks analysis, unraveling the construction of the corpus, the analytical parameters and the use of secondary data. The properly empirical part of the thesis undertakes an evaluation of the hypothesis according to which cyberactivism in Brazil can be considered a stable contentious field. The third chapter deals with the emergence period of the field which describes the construction of the network society in Brazil with decisive action by IBASE, the appeareance of the first cyberactivist portals in the 1990s and the interaction between the expanded portals after the turn of the millennium. The fourth chapter explores the cyberactivism fever from 2005-6, which puts blogospheres in a quarrel and opens up the period of consolidation, with the formation and institutionalization of three major subfields: the center-left, the center-right and the radical right. The fifth and final chapter explores the routinization of the cyberactivist field from the 2013 demonstrations onwards, with the opening of a new communicational environment as the web undergoes a process of platformization. The thesis concludes that cyberactivism emerged and consolidated itself as a strategic action field through interactions between blogospheres and also that, with the opening of a new technical and political scenario in 2013, this field undergoes readjustments, with a migration to social networking platforms. Finally, this research understands that the cyberactivist field was not only constituted as a space for the agenda-setting of public opinion, but rather, it enters the dispute in the information market as a legitimate space for the very production of public opinion. |

Finally, this research understands that the cyberactivist field was not only constituted as a space for the agenda-setting of public opinion, but rather, it enters the dispute in the information market as a legitimate space for the very production of public opinion. Submitted by Paula CCS/D IESP (paulacarreirao@edu.unirio.br) on 2022-11-18T21:11:11Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Tese - Raul Nunes de Oliveira - 2022 - Completa.pdf: 7593068 bytes, checksum: 43c3c4b87d4ddc22575931dc344da97a (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2022-11-18T21:11:11Z (GMT).
