Resumo: | The present master's dissertation, entitled Stairway Selarón: urbane metaphor of the 'wonder city mutant', inserted within the line of research, Art, Cognition and Culture by PPGARTES of UERJ, seeks to extend and expand the field of study on public art, in order to deepen the vision about the said spontaneous and unauthorized beauties in the Brazilian creative soil, throwing a lens on a work that altered the visuality and daily life of a historic road in Rio de Janeiro. Thus, presenting investigative recognition of an unusual intervention consisting of numerous tiles and various provenances, covering an extensive staircase of 215 steps, located between the old neighborhoods of Lapa and Santa Teresa, this academic work wishes to occupy an important gap with the reflections nurtured by similar interest. It is also a matter of looking at one of the artistic layers that, although it is inscribed in the open, still presents itself as peripheral to studies in the arts. It involves the work in question, drawing on the articulation between diverse knowledge, involving not only the theories and epistemology of the art, but several anthropological studies aimed at the understanding of popular art, also considering the advances in the last decades of the social sciences, visual anthropology and cultural geography. In the research undertaken, in addition to giving voice to the artist - still alive during this investigation -, worrying about its trajectory and its production, it seeks to establish connections between the mutant condition of this work - also known as the "Great Madness" and the moving and organic reality of the metropolis-becoming that harbors it. The work represents and exemplifies the context of diverse forms that has been emerging in the pulsating and controversial urban universe of Rio de Janeiro. Similarly to the slums of Rio de Janeiro, the Selarón Stairway brings together a set of improvised constructive solutions, from pregnant actions to an improbable doing, which also appropriates and feeds on the city's hills, provoking the urgent interest of this research. The great work of Selarón arises in a scenario in which, in spite of the action of control or of regulatory regulation that always "allowed" that surprises of this nature continue to appear, it modifies in an unique way the flow of interest of the public space in which it manifests itself and , therefore, ensures the merit that it could not be absent in understanding the aesthetic regime of the world, favoring the field of investigation on vertigo in arts |

The great work of Selarón arises in a scenario in which, in spite of the action of control or of regulatory regulation that always "allowed" that surprises of this nature continue to appear, it modifies in an unique way the flow of interest of the public space in which it manifests itself and , therefore, ensures the merit that it could not be absent in understanding the aesthetic regime of the world, favoring the field of investigation on vertigo in artsA presente dissertação de mestrado, intitulada Escadaria Selarón: metáfora urbana da cidade maravilha mutante , inserida dentro da linha de pesquisa Arte, Cognição e Cultura pelo PPGARTES da UERJ, busca estender e ampliar o campo de estudo sobre a arte pública, no intuito de aprofundar a visão sobre as ditas belezas espontâneas e não-autorizadas no solo criativo brasileiro, lançando lente sobre uma obra que alterou a visualidade e o cotidiano de uma via histórica do Rio de Janeiro. No. of bitstreams: 1 Alexandre Henrique Monteiro Guimaraes_Dissertacao.pdf: 11066411 bytes, checksum: 3afe5399dae1db60b1e6a442461d9a7a (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-01-05T16:58:19Z (GMT).
