The Teaching Games for Understanding (TGfU) is a proposed methodology for teaching sports games that emerged from the reflection of traditional teaching models that are characterized by the prevalence of exercises that promote the repetition of a certain "perfect" technique, to later application in the context of the game. It is an alternative model for content systematization, valuing the acquisition of skills and understanding of game tactics. Seeking to understand the implementation of TGfU, this thesis aimed to identify and analyze the effects of the TGfU method in the teaching-learning process of invasion sports in a court environment. For the elaboration of the study, the “Scandinavian Model” was chosen, applying two distinct methodological tools. The first took place through two systematic review researches, article 1 and article 2, which had, respectively, the objectives: to systematically examine the available scientific evidence on the effects of applying non-traditional sports teaching models on the learning of invasion sports in a court environment and systematically examine the available scientific evidence on the effects of the application of the TGfU sports teaching model on the learning of invasion sports in a court environment. The second methodological tool occurred with the completion of two other original descriptive investigations of Survey typology, articles 3 and 4. In article 3, we sought to analyze and describe the use of the TGfU model in teaching and learning invasion sports in court environments in the city of Rio de Janeiro. In the 4th article, due to the quarantine caused by Covid-19, the research aimed to verify the perception of lifestyle among elementary and high school teachers of a state school located in the city of Belford Roxo in Rio de Janeiro in Covid-19's quarantine period. The results of articles 2 and 2 indicated eight different contemporary methods being successfully used in teaching invasion sports in a court environment. The TGfU model, in the results, proved to be effective in three different educational aspects: sports performance, motivational responses and promotion of physical conditioning of its practitioners. However, this positive condition was not manifested among physical education teachers and professionals interviewed in Rio de Janeiro. It was found that the TGfU model is unknown to many and very little taught in classes. Still prevailing the application of the traditional model. It was also observed that during the quarantine period, given the need to implement remote classes, elementary and high school teachers were classified as having a “Good” lifestyle. This indicates a healthy life condition, essential for teachers not to develop morbidities. It is concluded that the TGfU model, even showing effectiveness in the teaching-learning process of invasion sports in the court environment and being implemented worldwide, still lacks greater understanding and dissemination among national teachers and professionals
