Utilização das técnicas de análise: HAZOP e vulnerabilidade para a avaliação de um cenário típico de estação de tratamento de despejos industriais moderna em refinaria

This dissertation deals with the risk assessment of a particular case study, through the techniques HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) and Vulnerability Analysis. The aim of this study is to apply these two tools - in a hypothetical scenario - typical of a modern industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) of an oil refinery and evaluate the results obtained after applying the two analysis in order to assess the recommendations arising from each one, the time spent for the execution of the analysis and the interdependence between the information generated by each technique. To achieve this goal, the methodology of this study was to analyze the usual technological routes of WWTP refineries in order to define a reliable scenario. Once defined the scenario, a diagram regarding the process unit was prepared. Then the Vulnerability and HAZOP techniques have been applied to the case raised. Finally, the evaluations were listed, with regard to the approach of the two techniques in the present case study. The results show that in HAZOP, an overall assessment were listed 71 risks. Regarding the recommendations and observations were listed 28, and most (68 %), will result in action to install new devices. The Analysis of Vulnerability scored eight vulnerable points, and those that received the highest scores were the occurrence of fire and lack of proper maintenance in equipment and instruments. Evaluating the two analysis, it was found that the execution time for Vulnerability presents a value 75.8 % lower than the HAZOP, due to the fact it implements a simpler methodology. Moreover, it was also demonstrated the interdependence between emergencies raised in Vulnerability and causes of deviations recorded in HAZOP. Therefore, the Vulnerability Analysis can be understood as a complementary source of information that positively impacts the project and requiring low man - hour for its execution
