The object of study of this thesis refers to the informality of street in the context of the Alagoan semi-arid, primarily the segment of street vendors of foodstuffs. The main objective is to present the nexuses that make the forms of street work articulated dialectically to the logic of reproduction of capitalist society, starting from the analysis of the modus operandi of segments of street informality, among those that carry out their activities in the main commercial center of the Semi-arid region of Alagoas, the city of Arapiraca. This delimitation of the research demanded to answer the following question: the informal work of street vendors of foodstuffs can be functional to the reproduction of the capital, although its activities are not typical forms of work of the capitalism, being, therefore, outside the scope of the direct relation Between working capital? The answers were given based on bibliographical and field research, favoring the study of life and occupational trajectories. Bibliographical research sought explanations for the categorial universe; Already the field research established as a socio-spatial research cut the city of Arapiraca, the main economic center of the Alagoan semi-arid region, and as a research sample the content of four interviews carried out with street vendors of foodstuffs in the center of this city. The thesis is organized into four interconnected chapters, the first three of which are related to the theoretical contextualization of the socioeconomic formation of the Northeast (first chapter) and Alagoas (third chapter), in order to characterize their historical particularities and establish the fundamentals of analysis of the Informality in the labor market of this region; In the second chapter, we revisit the "informal labor question", understood as the debate that was structured on the thematic of informality in Brazil. Finally, in the fourth chapter, the critical exposition of the studied reality with the field research is presented, analyzing the different occupational trajectories of street vendors of foodstuffs in the street informality of the Alagoan semi-arid region. In conclusion, it is reaffirmed the hypothesis that the informal work of street vendors of foodstuffs does not participate directly in the process of capitalist production, but, once it carries out activities within the scope of simple circulation of goods - acts as generation of occupation and income , Functions as a means of reproducing the superfluous labor force, contributes to the maintenance of order by avoiding social upheaval, and brings the worker closer to the capital via the financial means through his transformation into a microentrepreneur - becomes functional to the reproduction of capital.
