The present thesis investigated the Social Thought of Bahians and Cariocas on the tourist trips. The theoretical reference used was a Theory of Social Representations, by Moscovici (1961), in the structuralist perspective of Abric (1994) and its articulations with Models of Social Cognition, more specifically the notion of stereotypes, having as a general characteristic the Social Thought of Bahians and Cariocas on travel, relating these objects, socially represented, with identity and stereotypes. Specifically, we tried to study the effect of the type of trip, taking into account how different modalities of travel the tourist's social valuation from different methodological perspectives. The research is organized from three studies, but is related, with the following detailing: The first study was carried out with the objective of exploring a structure of the Social Representations. The technique, called prototypical analysis, second Wachelke and Wolter (2011) applies the free association responses, that is, short phrases or expressions provided to an inducer stimulus that, in this case, was the term diagnostics linked to the topic. Subsequently, this association was combined with a previous similarity analysis. It was verified that the groups have similarities, beach tourism and cultural tourism, as well as their social leisure practices and cultural manifestations, as well as the emergence of the Family species that had an expressive representativeness. The study study has a pretension of the potential of work to articulation between the Theory of Representations). They were found: F1 Travel, Family F2, F3 Leisure and F4 Leisure. There was no difference in F1, F3 and F4 factors, which maintained the consistency of similarity between the groups. No F2 factor, which refers to the family dimension, showed a greater difference between the groups (t = 2.29; df = 192; p <0.023), showing that a sample from Bahia is more valued when compared to the sample from Rio de January, but does not mean that the other factors are not anchored to the movement plan such as leisure and leisure.
