The study aimed to investigate the contributions of nursing consultations in the management of care for individuals with neoplasms who receive systemic antineoplastic treatment in an outpatient setting. It highlights the role of properly qualified nursing professionals in addressing the care demands of individuals affected by neoplasms, justified by the importance of neoplastic diseases as a cause of illness and death worldwide. The study focused on the contributions of the first nursing consultation in the management of care offered to individuals affected by neoplasms. Its overall objective was to analyze the contributions of adopting the first nursing consultation before the start of systemic antineoplastic therapy (first consultation) in the management of care offered to individuals affected by neoplasms, with specific objectives of mapping the knowledge produced about the first nursing consultation in outpatient application of systemic antineoplastic therapy and understanding the perception of oncology nurses about the role of the first nursing consultation in the systemic antineoplastic therapy outpatient clinic. This was an exploratory-descriptive study with a qualitative approach, associated with a scope review. The study was carried out in three units of a network of clinics dedicated to oncology treatment. Thirteen nurses participated in the study, three of whom were responsible for the first consultation, and the others worked in the infusion room. Data collection was performed through semi-structured interviews. Ethical procedures for this study were respected in accordance with Resolution No. 466/2012 of the National Health Council, which deals with research involving human subjects. The scope review was guided according to the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) standards. The interview data was treated using content analysis techniques. The results of the scope review were organized around three categories, namely: 1) aspects to be evaluated in the nursing consultation for effective care management and intervention proposals; 2) Conduct to be taken by nurses to promote effective care management; and 3) Communication as a key element of care management. The analysis of the interviews generated two analytical categories: 1) organization of care in systemic antineoplastic therapy and the first nursing consultation, and 2) Nursing consultation: Guidance, reception, and comfort. The discussion sought to intertwine the findings of the scope review with the results of empirical research. The study concluded that the first nursing consultation contributes to care management by promoting reception and comfort.
