The positivistic science, based on modern assumptions, served as the foundation for expanding and reproducing the capitalist overvalued reason over ensibilidade. Contrary to such a stance and defending the focus of values, stories and experiences as well as the most diverse cultural expressions, humanistic geography's role is to fill the gap left by the positivist outlook that does not stick to human subjectivity as an element of construction, understanding and modification of geographical space. Thus, this branch of geography seeks to analyze the relationship between man and his universe of daily living, ie their place lived. The field of art, as is known, covers a multitude of translations and reflections about the feelings of individuals and the community. That said, it is worth to note, the artists record their works in their experiences, direct or indirect, on spaces and places. Using these resources, musicians reinforce the ties of identity and preserve the selective memory of a particular social group or this or that individual. Analyzing the urban evolution of Rio de Janeiro, Rio can conceive a Musical, whose "headwaters" are represented by the neighborhoods of New Town Square Eleven of wobbly and Estacio de Sa. In this sense Vila Isabel is one of the tributaries that receives and produces a sequence of musical fluidity in the metropolis of Rio. Seeking to enter this niche, this research attempts to understand how geographic sources central issue of the samba and consequently one of its meanderings, or arms of the River Music, the neighborhood of Vila Isabel, who pace this design places lived, symbolic, designed and mythical.
