This work is related to the field of the psychologist in the Family Courts. Its main objective was to gather possible contributions of Gestalt Approach to Forensic Psychology in Family Courts from conducting theoretical research on the concept and principles of diagnostic understanding in Gestalt therapy and aspects related to the role of psychologists in Family Courts. In the dissertation has been prioritized situations related to post-divorced families in regard to child custody and / or regulation of visits, since many of the disputes that come to the Family Courts are linked to issues that relate to marital breakdown. Held discussions on issues involving the time of divorce in families with children through the presentation of results of different studies in this area. Aspects related to the dispute over child custody and / or regulation of visits were analyzed because these are issues that generally are referred to psychology services of Family Courts. As a result of the study problematizes the strict implementation of psychological skills in these situations and present new opportunities for legal work of a psychologist with families post-separation. In the course of the development of this research, a choice of gestalt diagnostic understanding was given, as this concept presented, in their reasoning, theoretical premises that could be applied beyond the scope of clinical psychotherapy. It is noteworthy that such a notion arising from Gestalt therapy differs from formal psychological assessment. The theoretical research performed on diagnostic understanding evidenced gestalt principles grounded in phenomenology, and from these, we proposed a comprehensive approach as a contribution of Gestalt Approach to Forensic Psychology in Family Courts. The meeting of contributions from the comprehensive approach gestalt took from that statement of principles were related to specific aspects of the field of psychologists in Family Courts
