Resumo: This research aims to report on the process of executive functions and to better describe the aspects that surround it. The executive function is composed of three factors: inhibitory control, working memory, and cognitive flexibility. All of these factors aim to evaluate and regulate thoughts and emotions in order to have a problem-solving behavior demanded of the subject. The purpose of this research is to compare data on executive functions of 13 to 18 years old youths who are soccer athletes with those of sedentary girls of the same age group. Executive functions are cognitive multitasks that act directly on the subject's decision making, therefore they are directly related to the athlete's performance on the field, for example. Due to this, we seek to understand whether exposure to physical exercise is related to improvements in the development of executive functions.

A função executiva é composta por três fatores: controle inibitório, memória de trabalho e flexibilidade cognitiva. Todos estes fatores tem como objetivo avaliar e regular os pensamentos e emoções a fim de ter um comportamento para a resolução de problemas demandadas ao sujeito. A pesquisa tem como fim comparar dados de funções executivas de jovens dentre 13 a 18 anos que são atletas de futebol de base, com meninas da mesma faixa etária que são sedentárias. Funções executivas são multitarefas cognitivas que atuam diretamente na tomada de decisão do sujeito, portanto elas possuem relação direta com o desempenho em campo do atleta, por exemplo.
