Vozes femininas entre estilhaços: alteridade na literatura portuguesa e moçambicana contemporâneas

This thesis seeks to analyze the trajectory of the protagonists in the novels Retradp dum amigo enquanto falo (1988), by Eduarda Dionísio, A costa dos murmúrios (1988), by Lídia Jorge, and Ventos do Apocalipse (1995), by Paulina Chiziane, works that represent contemporary Portuguese and Mozambican literature. The chosen works have as a common point the look of women, female characters on recent conflicts in Portugal and Mozambique (Africa) such as the Colonial War between Portugal and the former African colonies, the Carnation Revolution in Portugal and the Civil War in Mozambique. In the three novels, the protagonism of women is evident, and they are the ones who narrate the events amidst the shrapnel of war and imprint on them their way of seeing them: they look, see and talk about the inner war that women face (when recognize themselves as a subject) and the foreign war (referring to the context in which it is inserted). We consider that women in a war situation experience a double war, since they need to overcome the patriarchy that plagues them, concomitant with the fragments of conflicts. With this thesis, we intend to contribute to the studies of Comparative Literature due to the fact that the selected novels are little explored regarding this theme due to the comparative bias. In addition, the female perspective on historical events allows a better understanding of both the events and the imaginary of these two countries in question, underlining the importance of the woman's voice in literature and history
