Sentindo-se responsabilizada: a decisão da mulher sobre o uso de métodos contraceptivos e aborto inseguro

This is a descriptive, interpretative research with a qualitative approach, using Grounded Theory, in the perspective of Symbolic Interactionism. The objectives of the study were to identify the meanings of contraceptive methods and the prevention of unsafe abortion attributed by women, and to analyze the social interaction of women with the use of contraceptive methods as a strategy for the prevention of unsafe abortion, based on the meanings attributed by them. The study was carried out in a first phase through electronic diaries and later with the development of face-to-face focus groups. 23 women participated in the age group from 18 to 29 years old, subdivided into three sample groups. Project approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the State University of Rio de Janeiro, under opinion No. 3,450,251. Data collection and analysis took place from August to December 2019. From the comparative analysis of the data, three categories emerged that, in their articulation, led to the identification of the central category that guides the explanatory theoretical model as being: Feeling responsible: the decision to submit to the use of contraceptive methods and unsafe abortion. It was evidenced that by giving meaning to contraceptive methods and the prevention of unsafe abortion, women show that they feel responsible, however, they do not have access to information about contraceptive methods, thus accepting the methods offered by health professionals. In this sense, they also feel responsible for the practice of unsafe abortion, resulting from an unwanted pregnancy due to failure and / or non-access to contraceptive methods. Thus, it is concluded that it is necessary to guarantee women information and technologies for the exercise of their reproductive choices, in addition to involving men in the reproductive process and reducing gender inequalities, thus minimizing guilt and accountability imposed on women.
