Considering the object of analysis chosen for the study, this doctoral dissertation aims to identify, through analysis, dialogic and polyphonic procedures in the production of meaning in a set of covers published by magazines Veja, Época, IstoÉ and Carta Capital in the period 2010-2016. Treated as text genres, these covers feature a range of signifying combinations carefully selected by the publishers thereof to build the meanings required by the context of the publication. In the theoretical path, it is relevant to understand the falling back upon different linguistic resources and language tools, as well as the judicious selection of meaningful elements and a plural number of textual and discursive associations, thereby allowing the occurrence of an interweaving of voices in each of the covers. Therefore, as a relevant discursive genre, the magazine covers selected for this dissertation provide not only the information about the featured content to the readers, but, beyond this, they often operate to contribute to forging the reading identity of their audience, supporting them in their choices and decision making.
