Expressão de citocinas na saliva e fluido periimplantar de pacientes com periimplantite

This study aimed to measure the level of GM-CSF,IL-1β, IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-7, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12, IFN-γ and TNF-α in periimplantcrevicular fluid (PICF), whole saliva and salivafrom parotid gland from patients with Mucosites (MU) and periimlantitis (PI) who uses implants exclusively. Twelve patients with mucositis (MU; 2 men and 10 woman; mean age 65±9,4) and ten patients with periimplantitis (PI 4 men and 6 woman; mean age 59.4±11,8)participated in the study. The clinical parameters evaluated were, pocket depth, bleeding on probing and percentage of plaque.Samples were collected and citokines were meansured by a multiplexed bead immunoassay (Luminex). Significance statistical differences in the levels of citokines between groups was determined using non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test, and between sample from the same group theWilcoxon signed rank test. Among the clinical parameters, patients with PI had a higher percentage of plaque compared with the MU (p = 0.02). The MU patients had lower pocket depth compared to shallow sites in patients with PI (p = 0.001), and to the deep sites (p ≤ 0.00). In PICF, the levels of IL-1β was significantly higher in shallow sites in patients with PI in relation to the sites of patients with MU (p = 0.03). In the saliva from parotid, the levels of IL-8 and IL-12 were significantly higher in patients with PI (p = 0.04). Elevated levels of IL-1β seem to be a characteristic of patients with peri-implantitis, regardless of the degree of destruction to the site. The saliva of the parotid duct showed a significant increase in expression of IL-8 and IL-12 not detected in the saliva.
