The tourism is an important economic activity nowadays. It mobilize big flux of people, money and business, it is responsible a lot of urban, economic and social process, and yet very impacts. In the face of several analyzes, we pretend investigate how the beach, in the context the economic, cultural and social valorization is very important to urbanization process, especially the desigual development. So, we will understand the new process of urbanization or the restructuring of space from the beach, with new forms, news enterprises, news values, conflicts, power relations, the state functions and a new economic-space logic, aligning tourism with capitalism. At the same time, we will analyze a brief history of tourism in the world, emphasizing the economy, society and space. Finally, We will discuss the “sun and beach” tourism modality and any relationships with residential tourism, highlighting the Brazilian coast, particularly the tourist city of Cabo Frio, in Rio de Janeiro.
