This study aims to analyze child labor by the press in the city of Rio de Janeiro from 1924 to 1927. The proposed time frame is justified because in 1924 the creation of the First Private Children's Court in the city of Rio de Janeiro, understood by us, as an institution that had as one of its functions to supervise the work of minors and 1927 due to the promulgation of the Code of Minors, the first Brazilian code directed to the protection and assistance of children, which in its chapter IX, presented specific aspects on the regulation of child labor. Based on newspaper reports, we intend to analyze the conditions in which the smallest workers were in the city. The documentary sources prioritized in the work are: the newspaper clipping albums of the First Private Children's Court, made up of 2,076 clippings, which address different themes related to childhood, the Code of Minors, to child labor where we find a total of 517 related reports the theme of this work in the fourteen analyzed albums; the document of the Code of Minors and the book Code of Minors of the United States of Brazil Commented by Beatriz Sofia Mineiro (1929) articulated to authors who discuss the theme of this work and who assist us methodologically as: Araújo (1993), Barbosa (2015) , Braga (1993), Schwarcz (1993), Camara (2010, 2013, 2014), Rizzini (2018); Del Priore (2018), among others.
