Resumo: | A pilot plant to treat municipal wastewater that combines the Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) with a Bardenpho system and useful volume of 400 L was designed, built and installed at CEDAE facilities and since September 2017 it has been operated and gradually improved by the BioProcess research group. The system consisting of 5 units in series (anaerobic / anoxic-1 / aerated / anoxic-2 / settler) is fed by a continuous basis with municipal sewage, and the complete mixing in the units is promoted either by mechanical agitation or by aeration. The total volume of the aerated reactor (MBBR) was 240 L, so that 50% of this volume was filled with media that are constantly moving and occupy a volume of approximately 18 L, resulting in a useful volume of 222 L. The media used had specific area of 500 m² / m³ and density of 0,96 g / cm³. Over the course of 11 months, the system was submitted to two flow rate regimes, such as acclimation tests. In the first test, two different flow rates were tested (1 L/min and 0.5 L/min) and in the second test, the flow started as 0.07 L/min and doubled each week up to 1 L/min. The beginning of the MBBR operation required frequent maintenance and even replacement of equipment, resulting in modification of the diffuser structure of the aerated reactor and replacement of the mixing system. The system that has the future objective of promoting the reduction of emerging micropollutants (drugs), presented satisfactory removal of COD removal. An investigation about the best method of extraction of the biomass adhered to the media for quantification of the biofilm indicated ultrasound as extraction technique with better performance than mechanical agitation and defined the best levels for two independent variables (volume and time of exposure). |

An investigation about the best method of extraction of the biomass adhered to the media for quantification of the biofilm indicated ultrasound as extraction technique with better performance than mechanical agitation and defined the best levels for two independent variables (volume and time of exposure).Uma planta piloto de tratamento de esgotos que combina o sistema MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor) com um sistema tipo Bardenpho e volume útil de 400 L foi projetada, construída e instalada na Elevatória da CEDAE e desde o início de seu funcionamento, em setembro de 2017, ela tem sido operada e gradualmente aperfeiçoada pelo grupo de pesquisa BioProcess-UERJ. Submitted by Boris Flegr (boris@uerj.br) on 2021-01-06T14:09:04Z No. of bitstreams: 1 Renata Aguiar de Castro.pdf: 8672835 bytes, checksum: 32af67f19bffe779eaf4c162eb609253 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-01-06T14:09:04Z (GMT).
