This thesis investigates the body problematic as it is conceived in the psychoanalytic experience as a body that speaks and enjoys, and adopting as reference Sigmund Freud´s Collected Works and Jacques Lacan s teaching. Taking the question which body speaks in psychoanalysis? as a starting point, it tries to grasp the specificity of the idea of a body as related to the unconscious. For this purpose, it goes through concepts such as, autoerotism, narcissism and Mirror stage, as well as the operation by which the incorporation of the Symbolic takes place, stuffing those concepts with poetry. It also examines the ways by which the body speaks in the clinic, that is, as inhibitions, symptoms and anxiety. After that, introducing lalangue, it approaches the encounter between this body, which is sensitive to saying, and words. Lastly, it advances towards Lacan s last years of teaching in order to reflect upon the connection of the body with love and jouissance. In consonance with Freud s saying that artists have the ability to antecipate psychoanalytic findings, we invoke the art of dance, through the work of the American dancer, teacher and choreographer Martha Graham, literature, through Diego Vecchio s short story The man of the last book, and Richard Wagner s opera Tannhäuser
