Resumo: The research aim to analyze how the study of city/urban contributes to the construction of concepts and school geographic contents from the sociospatial practices analyses of students of Youth and Adult education from the municipality of Duque de Caxias RJ. The purpose of this study is to enable that the classes provides the comprehension of spatial reading of a part of the reality lived that materializes in a certain space produced. Faced with this, it is important that theme connected with the concept of city/urban in the curricula to be rescued as a way of developing sociospatial awareness in the citizen from Duque de Caxias. It was decided to bring the sociospatial practices of students because is something well known and experienced by them. Thus, the educator can have as a starting point the reality of the student, seeking to explore their daily life. The teaching of Geography allows that discussions such as these to be embraced, because understanding their city, the social production of their place, urban problems and their rights as citizens are relevant themes for the discipline of school geography, so that students recognize themselves within the spatiality of their city. In terms of methodology, it was based on the case study that investigate the particular form a certain situation. Thus, was analyzed the complexity of the problem empirically in a unitary way, from their interpretations, data collection and other information. Were investigated in the study the Municipal School Expedicionário Aquino de Araújo and the Municipal School Professor Oneres Nunes Oliveira located in the first district from city. As instrument of research, the curriculum was analyzed as the document of the discipline of Geography of the county, it is possible to notice that there is no specific structure for the public of Youth and Adult education, which means that the objectives formulated refer to Regular Fundamental Education, since the Youth and Adult education has its daily experiences that should be contemplated in the classes. Besides that, there is the application of questionnaires, workshops with debates about the rights to the city, texts production of students based on their sociospatial experiences and finally the selection of interviewed students in order to understand how the teaching of geography and the study of the city influences in their lives. According with the results obtained, the most students face innumerable difficulties about the interpretation of geographic concepts and contents as well as the unfamiliarity of their rights as citizen and city residents. The developing of the workshops was relevant to the process of teaching/learning, because allowed the building of knowledge by the students who learned in a meaningful way the theme of the research in question.

The developing of the workshops was relevant to the process of teaching/learning, because allowed the building of knowledge by the students who learned in a meaningful way the theme of the research in question.A pesquisa tem como objetivo geral analisar como o estudo de cidade/urbano contribui para a construção dos conceitos e conteúdos geográficos escolares, a partir das análises das práticas socioespaciais dos estudantes da Educação de Jovens e Adultos, do Município de Duque de Caxias-RJ. O propósito desse estudo é possibilitar que as aulas promovam a compreensão da leitura espacial de uma parte da realidade vivida, que se materializa em um determinado espaço produzido. Diante disso, é importante que temáticas ligadas ao conceito de cidade/urbano sejam resgatadas no currículo, como forma de desenvolver a consciência socioespacial do cidadão caxiense. Optou-se por trazer as práticas socioespaciais dos estudantes, por ser algo conhecido e vivenciado por eles. Mediante isso, o educador pode ter como ponto de partida a realidade do alunado, buscando explorar seu cotidiano. O ensino de Geografia possibilita que discussões como essas sejam abarcadas, pois compreender a sua cidade, a produção social do seu lugar, os problemas urbanos e o seu direito enquanto cidadão são temáticas relevantes para a disciplina de Geografia escolar, de modo que os alunos se auto reconheçam dentro da espacialidade da sua cidade. Em termos de metodologia, partiu-se do estudo de caso, que investiga de forma particular uma determinada situação. Assim, analisou-se empiricamente a complexidade da problemática de forma unitária, a partir de suas interpretações, da coleta de dados e outras informações. Foram pesquisadas nesse estudo a Escola Municipal Expedicionário Aquino de Araújo e a Escola Municipal Professor Oneres Nunes Oliveira, localizadas no primeiro distrito da cidade. Como instrumento da pesquisa, analisou-se o currículo como o documento da disciplina de Geografia do município, sendo possível notar que não existe uma estrutura específica para o público da EJA, ou seja, os objetivos formulados são referentes ao Ensino Fundamental Regular, visto que a EJA tem suas experiências cotidianas, que deveriam ser contempladas nas aulas. Além disso, houve a aplicação de questionários, realização de oficinas com debate sobre o direito à cidade, produção de textos dos alunos, baseada nas suas vivências socioespaciais e por fim, seleção dos alunos entrevistados, com o intuito de compreender como o ensino de geografia e o estudo da cidade influenciam na vida deles. De acordo com os resultados obtidos, a maioria dos alunos enfrentam inúmeras dificuldades quanto à interpretação de conceitos e conteúdos geográficos, bem como o desconhecimento de seus direitos enquanto cidadãos e moradores da cidade.
