A reforma trabalhista em texto multimodal: processos cognitivos subjacentes à construção de sentidos

In this work, cartoons about the Labor Reform filed in 2017 by the government of President Michel Temer will be analyzed in order to describe the structures and cognitive processes involved in the conceptualization of meanings attributed to the texts. Therefore, this study is based, above all, on the theories of Blending and Conceptual Metaphor (FAUCONNIER; TURNER, 2002; LAKOFF; JOHNSON, 2002[1980]), on the concepts of monomodal and multimodal metaphor (FORCEVILLE, 2006, 2008), in Frame Semantics (FILLMORE, 1982) and in one of its developments, the notion of frame conflict (LAKOFF, 2006). The selected cartoons were collected using the Google Images tool, from the search for multimodal texts, composed of verbal text and image, using the expression “labor reform charges”. The results of the analysis point to the following recurrent conceptual structures and processes in the conceptualization of labor reform triggered by cartoons: (i) frames: LABOR REFORM, LABOR MODERNIZATION, NEOLIBERALISM, SOCIALIST IDEAS, SUFFERING, TORTURE; (ii) STRENGTH/RESTRICTION, EXISTENCE/REMOVAL, SPACE/UP-DOWN imagery schemes; (iii) vital relationships: ANALOGY, DISANALOGY, TIME, ROLE-VALUE, CAUSE-EFFECT, REPRESENTATION, from which the labor reform is metaphorically conceptualized as SLAVERY, DISPOSAL OF RIGHTS/CRASH, PREDATION, RELEASE/DISCOMFORT, DEGRADATION/DEATH . From the analysis, it was also possible to describe the work MCI underlying the construction of meanings activated by the cartoons
