This study investigates and analyzes five chronicles by João Ubaldo Ribeiro, whose theme is about Mother's Day. The purpose of this work is to demonstrate the laughable potential and, therefore, interactive, pleasurable and that fosters the construction of different meanings from texts, examining the linguistic selections implemented by the writer that promote such effects. As a way of proving the affirmation, lexical resources that are linked to other linguistic constructions, employed in favor of comic, are observed with special attention. The bibliographic review is used as a methodological procedure to establish categories of analysis that guide the corpus approach. The objectives of the research are the updating of knowledge and the presentation of innovation in the material as a source of delight through the comic. The approach is of a qualitative nature, for the understanding and interpretation of the observed phenomena and deepening of the meanings. The effective presence of the comicin the stylistic elaborations in the corpus was proven. The conclusions obtained showed that the linguistic uses adopted indicate conditions that generate laughter and, as a consequence, produce greater interaction, appreciation and expressiveness.
