This study had as object the identification for the obstetric nurse of situations of interfamily violence lived by the pregnant woman. The research for aspects that involve the identification of interfamily violence in pregnancy period appears starting from the practice as obstetric nurse in the prenatal, where the violence situations to the woman are present in your interpersonal relationships. To assist to the object in subject the following objectives were traced: To describe obstetric nurse's perception on interfamily violence; to discuss the strategies used by the obstetric nurses in the identification of interfamily violence situations lived by pregnant women and to point the facilities and difficulties of obstetric nurse in the identification of interfamily violence situations lived by pregnant women. Due to the complexity and subjectivity degree of the study object, it was necessary to work with a qualitative approach, being characterized as an exploratory descriptive and flexible research, where there was a concern in the process as a whole and not only in the result. As subjects of that study were chosen obstetric nurses that act in the prenatal of five health units coordinated by the Municipal Secretary of Health of Rio de Janeiro. The collection technique of data was a semi-structured interview, recorded in magnetic ribbon, assisting to the effective legislation that disposes the research guidelines with human beings. The analysis technique of content of Bardin was used in the decoding of data, being accomplished in an inductive way. As a result of that analysis it was possible to describe that the nurse recognizes the interfamily violence in pregnant women, having as base an enlarged concept of violence and being in agreement with extolled by Health s Ministry. The identification of these situations during the prenatal is ruled in the evaluation of corporal expressions that are evidenced through the signs and of pregnant women's speeches. As strategies for identification as deponent pointed the attentive glance, listen to sensitive, attention to the behavior and the pregnant woman attitudes close to your companions. The study, when discussing the strategies used to identification and the obstetric nurse's difficulties during the approach to the pregnant woman that lives interfamily violence, pointed alternatives that make possible the identification of violence in pregnancy period favoring the nurse's instrumentalization and aiding the woman, the family and the community in the facement and in the visibility of interfamily violence. The elaboration of Identification of Situations of Violence in Pregnant Women instrument appears as a proposal of direction of the approach and of the identification on the part of the obstetric nurse, should be included in the clinical-obstetric anamnese during the prenatal.
