Resumo: The representation between the Death and to die for the atheists and believers of different religions. To study the social representations of death and dying for religious groups and atheists, the objective was to identify the constituent contents of the social representations of death and dying among people of different religious groups and atheists. To describe the contents and internal organization of these social representations of these same groups; to identify the central elements of social representations using centrality measurement methods; to identify participants' religiosity level by applying the Duke s Scale and discuss the social representations of the death and dying of different religious groups and atheistic people. This is a descriptive and exploratory study with a quantitative and qualitative approach, with the perspective of the theory of social representations, held between 2016 and 2019 in religious temples as a Catholic, Spiritism temple, Umbanda and Candomblé temples (Brazilian religions of African origin), Protestant and a university for atheists. In the first stage, 900 people participated, being 150 for each social group studied, that responded to the characterization, for to collect to free evocations for the death and dying inducing terms to death and dying and the religiosity scale of DUKE and 27 to the interview. In the second moment tests were performed, applying mise-in-cause, choix-par-bloc and basic cognitive schemes methodology. In this phase, 60 subjects from each social group participated, but for the basic cognitive that only 10 participated. For the characterization and the scale it was chosen the analysis through the simple statistics, for the prototype evocation and similarity for co-occurrence, the lexical interview. The results of the approach demonstrate that the central core of death for to the Spiritists is the life, for the Catholics, life, heaven and salvation, for the Umbanda followers, disease, pain and fear, for the Protestants, the salvation and the life, and for the Atheists, family and the longing. Concerning dying, life and loneliness for the spiritists, life for Catholics, sadness, fear and passage for the Umbanda followers, the end, life and illness for Candomble followers, death, sin and separation for Protestants and sickness for atheists. In procedural analysis, the results are divided into two axes: the first one deals with the conceptual and affective aspects of the process of death and dying, the second, about mechanisms, that the individual has to face the events involving death and the afterlife. At the end of the study, it can be seen that death and dying have different representations for the social groups studied. Dying is the process that leads the creature to death, while death is the phenomenon of the cessation of life. Death is at the heart of the process of dying, pervading it and giving it meaning. Thus, understanding how these social groups structure their thinking around death and dying, that one can think of integral health care, especially nursing.

Thus, understanding how these social groups structure their thinking around death and dying, that one can think of integral health care, especially nursing.Para estudar as representações sociais da morte e do morrer para os grupos religiosos e pessoas ateias, adotou-se como objetivos identificar os conteúdos constituintes das representações sociais da morte e morrer entre pessoas de diferentes grupos religiosos e pessoas ateias; descrever os conteúdos e a organização interna das representações sociais da morte e morrer das pessoas de grupos religiosos e ateias; identificar os elementos centrais das representações sociais através do uso de multimétodos de aferição da centralidade; identificar o nível de religiosidade dos participantes através da aplicação da Escala de Religiosidade de Duke e discutir as representações sociais da morte e o morrer dos diferentes grupos religiosos e de pessoas ateias. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo e exploratório com abordagem quanti-qualitativa, sob a ótica da teoria das representações sociais, realizado entre 2016 e 2019 em templos religiosos católico, espírita, umbandista, candomblecista, protestante e em uma universidade para os sujeitos ateus. Na primeira etapa participaram 900 sujeitos, sendo 150 para cada grupo social estudado, que responderam à caracterização, à coleta de evocações livres para os termos indutores morte e morrer e à escala de religiosidade de DUKE e 27 à entrevista. No segundo momento foram realizados os testes mise-em-cause, choix-par-bloc e esquemas cognitivos de base. Nessa etapa participaram 60 sujeitos de cada grupo social, com a exceção dos esquemas cognitivos de base que foram 10. Para a caracterização e a escala optou-se a análise através da estatística simples, para a evocação a prototípica e a similitude por co-ocorrência, para a entrevista a lexical. Os resultados da abordagem demonstram que o núcleo central da morte para os espíritas é vida, para os católicos, vida, céu e salvação, para os umbandistas, doença, dor e medo, para os protestantes, salvação e vida e para os ateus, família e saudade. Com relação a morrer, vida e solidão para os espíritas, vida para os católicos, tristeza, medo e passagem para umbandistas, final, vida e doença para candomblecistas, morte, pecado e separação para protestantes e doença para ateus. Na análise processual, os resultados se dividem em dois eixos, o primeiro versa sobre os aspectos conceituais e afetivos do processo de morte e de morrer e o segundo sobre mecanismos que o individuo dispõe para enfrentar os eventos que envolvem a morte e o pós-morte. Ao final do estudo pode constatar-se que morte e morrer possuem representações distintas para os grupos sociais estudados. O morrer é o processo que leva a criatura a morte, enquanto a morte é o fenômeno do cessar da vida. A morte está na essência do processo de morrer, impregnando-o e dando-lhe sentido.
