Adaptação transcultural e evidências de validade de conteúdo da versão brasileira do instrumento “Eventos Adversos Associados às Práticas de Enfermagem (EAAPE)”

Objectives: carry out the cross-cultural adaptation of the questionnaire “Adverse Events Associated with Nursing Practices (EAAPE)” into Brazilian Portuguese, presenting its evidence of content validity; to analyze the quality of the linguistic equivalence between the original version of the instrument “Adverse Events Associated with Nursing Practices (EAAPE)” and the version obtained after the cross-cultural adaptation procedures; to investigate the content validity evidence of the Brazilian version of the instrument “Adverse Events Associated with Nursing Practices (EAAPE)”. Method: this is a psychometric study, with the aim of evaluating and validating an instrument so that it is accurate, reliable and later usable in different health scenarios. The methodological course of this study was developed in accordance with the recommendations of the main authors involved in this process and with internationally recognized publications. The 11 steps proposed by the adopted literature were carried out in order to guarantee the quality of the adapted instrument. For the analysis of equivalences by experts, the concordance index was used and, to verify the evidence of content validity from the experts' assessment for the criteria of clarity, relevance, relevance and dimensionality, the Content Validity Ratio was calculated. The research setting was a public and university hospital, located in the State of Rio de Janeiro. Participants in the cognitive test (or pre-test) phase were nurses with practical assistance in clinical, surgical or intensive care wards. All participants signed the Free and Informed Consent Form, receiving a copy. Results: The analysis of equivalences resulted in a 99.2% agreement rate between experts above 80%. All items that received some type of observation were reviewed. As for evidence of content validity, the instrument showed good rates for a version with 55 items, as well as the original. As for the assessment by the participants of the cognitive test phase, 100% did not report difficulty in understanding when filling out the instrument. Conclusion: The Brazilian version of the EAAPE is entitled “Adverse Events Associated with Nursing Practices (EAAPE)” - with 55 items and presents good evidence of content validity to evaluate adverse events associated with nursing practices from the perspective of process and outcome in the context of the reality of Brazilian hospital services.
