This research intends to observe the ways how Vinícius de Moraes incorporated the paradigm of singer-poet, which the mythological Orpheus represents to the history of lyric poetry. The presence of that myth has an important role in the poetic gesture that the modern poet develops by revisiting and incorporating critically and diplomatically the mythology. It could be noted is some poems in Vinícius de Moraes`s complete work, and in Orfeu da Conceição play. Orfeu do Morro da Conceição demonstrates that the emblem of the poet – Who sings – is popular and makes part of the everyday brazilian life, which is the base of our “gaia ciência” (WISNIK, 2001), and has its chronicle mirror and conflicting refraction mediated by the popular song. Vinícius de Moraes thinks about the permanence of mythology according to the popular songwriter and through his research and the blending of written and sung words that make the power of his poetry
