This study addressed the large-scale assessments with emphasis on Brazil Exam. The field of teacher training and some historical moments of its consolidation were presented to then discuss on the continuing education of teachers in the sense proposed by Candau. The discussion of the formation is necessary as professionals or as human beings, we are never ready or finished. In order to try to understand the teacher education profile of the Early Years of Primary Education, we use teachers' responses to the questionnaires Proof Brazil 2009. The data acquired from the analysis of the variables of the trial Brazil 2009 were confronted with theoretical information researched on the subject. The theoretical framework of this discussion is grounded in discussions of school recovery and the importance of this as a privileged locus of continuing education. Thus, authors such as Candau, Imbernon, Nascimento, among others, are fundamental. The results of educational surveys can be excellent tools to promote discussion on teaching and student learning. The new National Education Plan and the new National Curriculum Guidelines for Initial Training and Continuing Education of Teaching Professionals Basic adopted during this work also contributed to the study.
