The democracy and socialism were two axes that guided the founding of the Workers' Party during the process of democratization. In this sense, the interest is to investigate the meanings attached to the concepts of democracy and socialism in the presidential speeches of Luis Inacio Lula da Silva during the first term (2003-2006).Thus , the objective is to analyze how the project PT and its main protagonist talking to this last identity that constitutes a party to come to power with a view to increasing moderation of discourse , progressive abandonment of an anti-capitalist stance and weakening the bond with social movements during the ninety decade.Furthermore, this study addresses the regularities and discursive objects within the pronouncements of Lula, which consolidate the PT project as national integration, a discourse of rebuilding the nation. So check which image constructed this social entity , organizations used the identity and the idea of the ills of the nation in the president's speech that are based on this look , an archetype of change through the constant use of the phrase : " Never before in history of this country. "
