Resumo: This thesis analyzes the system of participation in lawsuits. Initially, it seeks to identify the characteristics and trouble spots in the classical model of multiparty and third-party lawsuits, highlighting the shortcomings of the traditional system. Once this diagnosis has been made, the paper seeks to introduce directions that may guide a restructuring of procedural rules, which is to say, diversity, responsibility and flexibility. Secondly, this study sets out to develop proposals that allow for alterations and new arrangements for the interested parties, dealing with themes such as procedural succession, integration of co-parties and intervention by third parties. This thesis also aims to identify the conditions that allow intervention in lawsuits, aiming to identify and categorize the various forms of participation, including those that occur in a non-apparent manner, and to introduce a set of adequate procedural rules.

Inicialmente, busca identificar características e pontos sensíveis do clássico modelo de pluralidade de partes e terceiros, apontando deficiências do regime tradicional de formação e modificação subjetiva do processo. Realizado tal diagnóstico, o trabalho busca apresentar vetores que podem nortear a reestruturação do regime processual, quais sejam: diversidade, responsabilidade e flexibilidade. Em seguida, o estudo se propõe a desenvolver propostas para viabilizar modificações e novos arranjos subjetivos, tratando de temas como sucessão processual, saneamento subjetivo, integração de litisconsortes e intervenção de terceiros.
