Resumo: The presente work has as object the immigrantist project formulated by the Sociedade Central de Imigração, association existente in Rio de Janeiro between 1883 and 1891. This Project is based in alternative proposal of immigratory politics formulated by elite peoples, originated from the midding social sectors of the imperial society. The analysis of the papers produced by this association show his discourse privileged the Brazilian nation s formation in geral theme, and conceived the theme of immigration and the colonization as enunciation spindle of all the others themes, raised in the speeches of the entity. The European immigration representation is articulated wiyh a project of the colonization in the small properties. This approach is concerned as a deflagrating element of the big transformations which the association wanted for the Brazilian society, on a reformist perspective.

Este projeto é abordado como proposta alternativa de política imigratória para o Brasil, formulada por pessoas da elite oriunda dos setores sociais médios do Brasil imperial. A análise dos documentos produzidos por esta associação mostra que seu discurso privilegia a formação da nação brasileira como tema geral, e o tema da imigração e da colonização como eixo da enunciação de todos os demais temas levantados na fala da entidade.
